Spruce up your property with a new garage door

Homeowners often forget that the appearance of the garage door at a property can be detrimental to the overall look of the property if the garage door is looking tired and shabby. Sometimes a quick coat of paint is all it needs to restore the garage door to its former glory but occasionally it is necessary to replace the old door with a new one possible even to convert it from a manually controlled one to a motorised version.

The choice of garage door material is often down to personal choice and the style of the property as older properties often have wooden garage doors fitted. Steel garage doors are probably the most common, are weather resistant and although often come with a powder coated finish can be painted to suit your own tastes. GRP, glass reinforced polyester doors are becoming a popular choice as they are durable, low maintenance and can be bought with a wood effect finish in a range of colours if desired.

Automatic garage doors are a real advantage if you regularly park your car in the garage as a sensor can be fitted that opens the door as you approach it or alternatively opens using a remote-control unit. This is particularly beneficial if the house holder is elderly or disabled as garage doors can be difficult to open and close.
