Making your garage door more secure

For some people having a secure garage is a necessity especially if you use your garage to house a precious classic car or store high value tools there so what are the best ways to secure the garage and protect your belongings from theft and vandalism?

The garage door locks are the first thing to check as the majority of garage doors are fitted with a simple locking mechanism that can be easily breached. Opening doors, rather than up and over doors, that have at least five-point locks fitted are advisable and if there is another door leading out from the garage for you to use then a bolt top and bottom of the main garage door is also a good idea.

Consider having a separate alarm fitted to the garage that is movement activated so that any intruder will be deterred from entering when they see the external alarm box on the wall. CCTV cameras are an additional security feature that many people use to protect their property and can be easily installed to capture footage both outside and inside the garage that you wish to secure. On some systems the footage can be viewed in real time on a mobile device giving you the opportunity to alert the police to a crime being committed.
