Caring For Your Precious Garage

For general cleaning, use a soft cloth and warm water with soap or washing up liquid. An ideal time to wash your garage door is when you wash your car. Use the hose to remove any dirt, particularly grit that may have been splashed up onto the bottom of the door. Don’t use a pressure washer as this could damage the seals. To remove grease marks, use washing up liquid with little or no water and then rinse with clean water

NEVER use corrosive, abrasive or solvent detergents, glass cleaner or any tools that might leave scratches. If you live in a coastal area, cleaning is especially important as salt is corrosive and over time can damage the door surface if not removed. Bird droppings are also particularly damaging as they are acidic and can attack the door’s surface. They should be removed with soap and water.

For garage doors with windows, clean with soap or washing up liquid. Don’t use abrasive or solvent detergents, glass cleaner or any tools that might leave scratches on the window. Should your garage door include windows with leading effect, please be aware that you may see a ‘leaking’ effect from the leading running down the windows. This is to be expected and can be easily cleaned with soap or washing up liquid
